Pollination Occurrences

Pollination can happen in many ways and is important so that more plants can be created. The first way is when the male pollen grains from the flower is put into the same flowers female stigma, this is called Autogamy. Another way is by taking the male pollen grains from the flower and putting it in a different flower on the same plant, this is called Gietonogamy. The last way is by taking the male pollen grains from the flower and putting it in a different flower on a different plant, this is called, Xenogamy. There are 3 different ways for Pollination to occur.Pollination Stock Illustrations – 3,894 Pollination Stock Illustrations, Vectors & Clipart - Dreamstime

FUN!

I think that out of all the FIRE acronyms (Fun, Integrity, Respect, Excellence), my holiday would be described as fun.

For the past two weeks (the holidays), I would definitely describe it as fun since I got to do a lot of stuff during the holidays. In the first week I didn’t go out a lot but I got to play games with my friends from school. In the second week I think I might have gone out everyday. I went out to eat at places, went to Sylvia Park, visited family around Auckland, Etc. These holidays were very fun and would definitely relive it if I had a chance to.

MOTAT Trip Highlight

Yesterday we went on a trip to MOTAT to learn about science and explore the technology used in the past. In my opinion, my favourite part of the trip would be going around and exploring the place. It was fun because I got to see the old transport and technology that my ancestors used.

Science Report

Today we did a Science Report on the experiment we did yesterday. We had to look at different shapes of mirrors and write what we saw, how we did it and more. It was a little challenging since I forgot what some of them looked like, but with the help of my friend I completed the task.

Snotty Steak

Today we had to make a revolting recipe for disgusting food. We had to come up with the food, recipe and ingredients ourselves. I really enjoyed this task since we got to come up with the whole writing piece ourselves.

Air Pressure Experiment

Title: Air Pressure Experiment

Purpose:

Attempting to understand air pressure

Hypothesis/Prediction (What I think will happen and why?)

I think that the air pressure from the hair dryer will make the ball levitate but if you were to move it around the air from the haixr dryer will go everywhere depending on how fast you move it. If you move the hair dryer slowly, the ball could possibly stay in the air, but if moved even a little bit fast the ball will fall.

Equipment/Materials

Hair Dryer

Ping Pong Ball

Method

  1. Grab your hair dryer and plug it into something so that it is on.
  2. Next grab your ping pong ball and while holding it, put it over the ball.
  3. After that, turn the hair dryer on and let the ping pong ball go.

Discussion

L . I think that the air pressure from the hair dryer will make the ball levitate but if you were to move it around the air from the hair dryer will go everywhere depending on how fast you move it. If you move the hair dryer slowly, the ball could possibly stay in the air, but if moved even a little bit fast the ball will fall.

S . I had seen the ball floating above the hairdryer and it was fun because when I cranked up the pressure I didn’t expect it to still hover over top, it was also exciting because when I was moving the hair dryer the ball was still over the hairdryer but I thought that it was going to fall off

M  What happened was when we oned hair drier we had to start off on low heat and then start turning the heat up .

Conclusion

In the end, my hypothesis was right and the ball floated when it was above the hair dryer which was on.

Science Candle Experiment

Science Candle Experiment

During LCS, we are learning about Science and we did an experiment. This is how you can do it:

Equipment:

Candle

Lighter/Match & Stick

Cup (long enough for the candle to have space)

Plate

Water

Optional:

Food coloring (used to color the water to make it look cool!)

Method:

  1. Take your plate and find a flat surface to place it on.
  2. Then take the candle and place it on the plate (if it is a birthday candle, then light the bottom of the candle using your match & stick/lighter and place it on the plate. It will stick to the plate like magic!)
  3. After that, gently pour your water into the plate but make sure it does not overflow.
  4. Later, then light the candle using the lighter/match and stick.
  5. When done, carefully place the cup over the candle so that the cup is upside down on the plate and inside the cup is the candle swimming in the water.
  6. Then you are done!

My Hypothesis:

I guessed that the water would rise since the fire is consuming the air and the water would rise since there’s no air inside.

What happened:

What actually happened was the water rose since the fire was consuming the air and the water rose since there wasn’t any air inside.
